Mayrhofner Advent

Mayrhofen Advent at the Forest Festival Area

Takes a break after ten successful years

It’s getting colder outside, and winter is only just around the corner.  After an extraordinary year, this winter is going to be a slightly different one.  Mayrhofen Advent at the Forest Festival Area is also an extraordinary occasion.  A tranquil affair, where people love to meet and mingle, whilst getting in the mood for the festive season.  But much is different this year and, for this reason, Advent at the Forest Festival Area is taking a break.

Regulations for the event would be extensive and complex.  Ranging from social distancing, prevention and safety concepts, appropriate service or the consumption of food and drinks while seated, to limited numbers of attendees.  Regulations and restrictions, which would affect the original character of Advent at the Forest Festival Area, as the very essence of this event is about getting together, catching up with old friends and quietly preparing for Christmas.

After close consultations with the associations involved, who have been the very backbone of Mayrhofen Advent for the past 10 years, Mayrhofen Tourist Board has decided to shelve Advent at the Forest Festival Area this year.

Advent will still be celebrated, however, in the Mayrhofen-Hippach holiday region.  In a calm and contemplative manner, in the various restaurants, during a leisurely browse through the numerous shops or totally relaxed whilst enjoying the first runs on the ski slopes.  It may be a slightly different start to the season, but everyone will have the opportunity to turn it into a special experience and create their very own memorable moments.

Programme

Blacksmith Demonstration
Special attention is paid to the arts and crafts again this year. The Kollreider family will demonstrate the craft of forging iron in its original form.
St. Nicholas Procession
St. Nicholas arrives with his angels on Friday, 6th December 2019 and will distribute gifts to all well-behaved children.
Exhibition of Paintings
The well-known musician from the former “Schürzenjäger” band and painter, Alfred Eberharter, will be exhibiting his latest works.
Kröll’s Christmas Bakery
Children can get creative at Kröll’s Christmas Cookie Corner, where angel’s wings are waiting to be decorated.
Contemplative Sounds
Mayrhofner Advent is somewhat different. Quaint, original, with no public address systems or “Silent Night” screeching from the loudspeakers. Soothing, genuine folk music ensures visitors enjoy a few hours of pleasant contemplation.
Christmas Post Office
All children will enjoy writing their Christmas wishes before sending it to Santa.

The Forest Festival Area

The ambience at the Forest Festival Area invites you to linger, with gentle festive melodies and pre-Christmas charm. A place of calm and contemplation.
